There are so many regions to discover in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and they span across several countries. Some regions are better than others in terms of side quests, gear, legendary weapons, and overall size. The goal is to have fun everywhere you travel with Eivor, although, this isn’t always the case.

If you are struggling to choose the next region where you want to form an alliance, then it can be helpful to know which areas will add a bit more excitement to the game. This is especially important if you want to finish the story, but find yourself growing bored with everything else it has to offer. Luckily, a few regions were made for this reason, while others will have you snoozing after a few minutes.

10 Best: Eurvicscire

Eurvicscire is located in the Northumbria region and this is one of the best due to the fact that it includes Hadrian’s Wall. It is an actual landmark you can visit in Great Britain, and fans love its inclusion in the game as it is a piece of this country’s vast history. You will also have access to pieces of Bear gear making it well worth the trip as this is one of the best armors in the game.

9 Worst: Asgard

You will visit Asgard when you bring Valka the first set of ingredients for her potion, but it isn’t worth it. Yes, it opens up the world of Norse mythology and introduces you to the key players, as well as explains part of the story.

However, it is as confusing as it is boring (if you don’t have a basic understanding of their mythology) and players hate how you collect 30 Tears of Ymir for a measly five skill points. Not to mention it is exhausting having to climb unimaginable heights which seem to take forever in search of these items.

8 Best: Hamtunscire

Hamtunscire is the location of Excalibur, the legendary sword of King Arthur. It also houses two of the Treasures of Britain which are needed to unlock this exceptional weapon. There is even a flawless light bow that can be found here as well if this weapon is your cup of tea, but there are also a few world events where the goal is to kill a target making them easy to complete.

7 Worst: Rygjafylke

This is the location in Norway where players start their journey and it turns many away from the game. It serves as a tutorial, but many are bored with the atmosphere and hate how bland it all looks with high mountains and snow on every surface, even though a face tattoo can be found here.

This region is also terrible as some of the tasks require a higher power, like the Lost Drengr for example, meaning you will have to return to this place to complete it. Luckily, you don’t last long here as you shortly make a trip to England, however, the developers could have done so much more to make this area of Norway great.

6 Best: Hordafylke

Hordafylke is the second location in Norway, but you will not take a trip here until you reach the end of the story. It still has the same bland feel as the other region in this country, but it signals the end of the game which gives players satisfaction after putting in so many hours. This area is smaller than most of those in England, making it easier to quickly and efficiently finish all wealth and mystery tasks within a shorter time span.

5 Worst: Vinland

Vinland is an area that will be unlocked for you to explore when Eivor is told to hunt down Gorm. It resembles North America, but the fact that you are sent here with nothing has players rolling their eyes. It feels unnecessary to have to collect weapons and gear when every enemy you dispose of drops both of these things. Eivor is instead tasked with collecting ingots and other materials in order to purchase them from the local traders.

4 Best: Essexe

Essexe might not seem too exciting at first glance, but the story is what makes this area so adventurous. It is exciting and keeps you entertained as you help plan a kidnapping, and you can even recruit Rollow as a Jomsviking if you play your cards right.

There are plenty of mysteries and wealth, but it doesn’t feel like you are completing them just to finish an area. Instead, the layout of them puts them close enough to the quests of the story so you don’t have to run or ride forever in the opposite direction of your quest to complete them.

3 Worst: Cent

Cent is just plain boring which is why it is one of the worst regions in the game. It brings nothing to the table, besides a weak storyline and several monotonous tasks for you to complete. The area’s beauty isn’t even memorable and it feels like they just threw it in to make the game feel a little longer by adding on a few extra hours before completion.

2 Best: Grantebridgescire

Grantebridgescire is another location with an exceptional storyline as you help Soma uncover the traitor in her midst. It is fun to search around for clues and it makes Eivor feel powerful as she holds the lives of Soma’s advisors in her hand. This is a bigger region, but the numerous waterways make it easy to traverse the land and raid areas as you can easily call on your crew for a helping hand.

1 Worst: Sciropescire

Sciropescire had the potential to be great, but they blew it with one of the first tasks they give Eivor. The story has her choosing who to give the silver to when her decision has no bearing on anything whatsoever, other than giving it to the wrong person will leave her 650 silver poorer. Ceolbert also died in this region and Ivarr became even uglier in his personality after this event making it a horrible place for players to remember, despite all of the amazing side quests.
