Wrath of the Druids is an upcoming post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It will be the first of two expansion packs that will come out sometime this year, and this will one will be released in March 2021.

There are a lot of things we don’t know about Wrath of the Druids yet, but we do know it will take Eivor’s story beyond England. Those who loved the base game will surely find the notion of this DLC quite interesting as well, and there are a number of things the players should know before they play the expansion for themselves once it comes out.

10 The Season Pass

If you purchased the Gold, Ultimate, or Collector editions of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, then you will only need to wait until Wrath of the Druids gets released later this year. If you didn’t, however, you’ll need to dish out an extra $39.99 dollars for a season pass.

On top of gaining access to not one, but two expansion packs, you will also receive an additional quest called The Legend of Beowulf which you can already play right now.

9 It’s Set In Ireland

The Wrath of the Druids expansion will take Eivor out of England and send you on a journey to Ireland. Not only will you be able to witness the amazing and gorgeous landscapes of the land, but you will be faced with more sets of challenges this new territory has to offer.

The territory shift from the base game to this DLC is amazing because it not only adds to the story of the game but also expands upon its already massive map size. Those who have dedicated hours upon hours of playtime on this game will have to dish out more just to explore the expansion’s new map.

8 The Children of Danu

If you’ve already defeated the Order of the Ancients while playing the base game, The Wrath of the Druids expansion will have you battle another group of enemies called the Children of Danu.

The Children of Danu are a druidic cult that worshipped the Irish goddess Danu, often referring to her as a mother goddess. You will have to hunt down the members of the cult, similar to how you’ve hunted down the members of the Order.

7 It Will Feature A Darker Tone Compared To The Base Game

While the base game wasn’t exactly completely sunshine and rainbows in terms of thematic tone, the Wrath of the Druids expansion will feature a much darker tone to really emphasize the mysterious and ominous nature of the land during that era—in Eivor’s perspective, at least.

This should also perfectly align with the druid’s mysticism and how foreign it is to an outsider’s perspective. How dark the expansion is exactly going to be is yet to be seen, but judging from released footage alone, it looks like it’s going to be enigmatic at least and baffling at most.

6 New Trading System

One of the things you’ll be able to do on this expansion is to have the ability to influence Dublin’s trading system. Dublin is the place in Ireland this DLC is going to be primarily set. Historically, Dublin was the Viking’s main trading hub.

How Eivor is going to influence the trading system is unknown for now, but we do know it will allow players to a few trades of their own. This will allow you to exchange things from your inventory with newer, awesome items exclusive to the DLC.

5 Hoard Items And Collect Silver Before The Release Of The DLC

If you’ve already completed the game’s main story, then you shouldn’t just shelf the game then and there. If you don’t know yet, there are still a ton of things you can do in this game after completing the main story.

In preparation for the Wrath of the Druids, you may want to stock up on items and silver considering the expansion pack is going to feature a new trading system. Don’t just sell the things you don’t need, hold on to them for now.

4 Ring Forts

You will also have the chance to conquer Ring Forts in this DLC. Ring Forts are fortified settlements that incorporate a circular structure, hence the name. It was heavily utilized in Ireland at the time and the way they’re designed in the game looks very accurate as to how they looked like historically.

Conquering Ring Forts work similarly to how you raid monasteries and other camps in the base game, which means more Viking action and more treasures! Get ready to sound those horns.

3 You’ll Need To Recruit More Jomsviking

There are a ton of Jomsviking lingering around England that you can recruit in your crew for a hundred silver coins. You’re going to need them if you’re going to power through the new territory brought upon by the expansion pack.

The Wrath of the Druids DLC will offer you a couple of Ring Forts to conquer and raid. Having powerful Jomvikings in your crew will give you an upper hand in the battles to come.

2 Gaelic Kings

In Wrath of the Druids, you will be given the chance to gain the favor of Gaelic kings. If the base game is to be referred to as a reference, it looks like Eivor will be playing the role of kingmaker, or at least, mediator, once again.

Judging by this official synopsis, you can also expect a lot of new historical figures to appear in this game. The most likely to appear are the sons of Ivarr the Boneless. Ivarr’s supposed eldest son, Bárid mac Ímair, was the King of Dublin during the late 870s, which is around the time this game is set. It’ll be interesting to see how the sons of Ivarr react to you, considering you murdered their father in combat, if they ever make an appearance.

1 Mastering The Art Of Smuggling

One more thing you’ll be able to do in Wrath of the Druids is to perform the art of smuggling. It’s unclear how smuggling is going to be mixed in with the overall gameplay, but expect a new set of missions, main and side, that will surely involve you smuggling a material or two. Maybe even a human being.

This is also a very historically sensical addition to this world since Vikings were known to illegally smuggle exotic goods and other valuable items in and out of various territories. If that sounds exciting to you, then you’ll surely look forward to this expansion pack.
