That said, sometimes a video game franchise rivalry can be just as heated between two series from the same company– as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest became after the Square/Enix merger– and few examples of that are more notorious than the fight between Bethesda’s Fallout and Syrim....

People don’t often associate the term “masterpiece” with a game. When the term comes up we think Mozart, Picasso, Hemingway. Singular artists who worked alone within their craft on a particular piece of work. A game, when done right can be a masterpiece in its own right. Before Halo: Infinite’s arrival, developer 343 Industries is taking fans back through the series’ history. However, the challenge of compiling a large number of games has led to some glitches surfacing. When 343 released Halo 2: Anniversary Edition to excited players of The Master Chief Collection, the developer warned that its latest update might create several bugs....

Fans have been sad that John Wick 4 is delayed but there are still other ways to enjoy this franchise. Bithell Games, the creators of the award-winning game Thomas Was Alone, created John Wick Hex to help fans enjoy the series in video game form. With John Wick Hex releasing on Nintendo Switch, a new group of players is curious to see what the game has to offer. The game certainly has positives though the negatives shouldn’t be ignored....

The BioShock franchise is at the forefront of storytelling in modern video games. They create lived-in worlds that on their own are fantastic and captivating stories, but they also add in thought provoking plots within these places of wonder that deal with philosophy, quantum physics, and more. 505 Games will now publish Suikoden spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes when it eventually releases. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was an incredibly successful KickStarter last summer as it reignited the gaming community’s interest in strategy RPGs. Its blend of beautiful 2D pixel art in front of some stunning backgrounds sparked the imagination of those who decided to back the game. The campaign was able to raise ¥481,621,841 (around $4,588,411) with over 46,000 fans contributing....

A Plague Tale: Innocence draws a lot of comparisons to The Last of Us. It makes sense; both games revolve around stealth and have you escorting a younger person through a deadly outbreak. The 2019 historical fiction survival game does enough to distinguish itself from Naughty Dog’s opus with the setting and focus on avoiding combat rather than direct confrontation. Both games force you to do unseemly things in the name of survival....

Few and far between, Godzilla games are a rare find in the west, somehow only surpassed by the enormous lack of King Kong representation. Hopefully, the recent Legendary reboots of the franchises will breathe new life into the games industry with their upcoming release of Godzilla vs. Kong, but until then we have to settle with some old-school (and a couple of new-school) games. Any fan of the kaiju genre knows just how hard it is to translate the larger-than-life monsters into a playable game, much less a good one....

According to a study by SuperData, half a billion people played Among Us in November, and many of those players are live streamers....

The first DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity seems to revolve around a new service called the EX Royal Ancient Lab - a place where Robbie and Purah have a chance to perfect their research and provide brand new tools for our favorite heroes. That includes a new playable ally, two new weapons, and a ton of quality of life improvements. The first wave of content dropped in late June, 2021 and ever since fans have been clamoring to get a piece of the action....

Overwatch’s Archives event went live on March 14, allowing players access to all of the game’s PvE missions created annually for the event, including new versions of old missions with added rules. That said, these modified old missions are the only new gameplay modes available this year (which is understandable, since the members of the Overwatch development team are most likely busy with Overwatch 2). While new playable content may be lacking, the new series of Archives skins is anything but....

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything concrete about Rocksteady Studios’ next big title. Ever since it wrapped up its immensely popular Batman titles, there have been constant rumors about which major DC characters will be getting their own video game, including Superman and even the whole Justice League. Recently, there have been rumblings that they will actually return to Batman with a title that will feature the Court of Owls....

The biggest title this month is undoubtedly The Boys Presents: Diabolical on March 4. This series presents eight different stories set in The Boys‘ universe, all offered up by different writers. Since each of the eight mini-episodes are animated, it’s probably fair to say this is The Boys‘ Animatrix. Call it the “Anivought”. Amnesia: Rebirth is the third installment in the Amnesia series. This survival/psychological horror game is filled to the brim with demanding puzzles for most of Amnesia Rebirth’s 10-hour playtime. One of the more difficult puzzles involves getting to the radio inside the fortress. Tasi has just gone through an incredibly spooky cave, and she comes out of it to face an equally scary fortress. It’s filled with dead bodies and horrifying monsters....

When it came out in 2018, Among Us went largely unnoticed by the wider gaming community, but that’s far from the case now. Due to various factors like COVID-19 and increased exposure by popular streamers, Among Us has exploded in popularity over the summer, so much so that it recently reached over 3 million concurrent players. The years developer InnerSloth spent fleshing out its game of cartoon murder and deception have been paying off immensely....

Could there be a more wholesome franchise in all of gaming than Animal Crossing? Even so, it’s important to remember that Animal Crossing isn’t always the harmless, relaxing, and stress-free experience it claims to be....

It has been quite some time since either BioWare or Electronic Arts has shared any official details regarding the forthcoming title Anthem, as the project skipped gamescom 2017 in order for EA to focus on games coming out this year instead. Now, however, some good news has come from BioWare’s Jonathan Warner, with the game director having confirmed that the release will be receiving a beta sometime down the line....
