World’s Edge return to Apex Legends yesterday, the second map of the Apex Games introduced late last year. It’s the first time the new character Loba has been able to check out the map, so many Apex Legends fans may have asked: “can vault loot be stolen by Loba?” Apex Legends’ ultimate for Loba sees her throw down a shop that can pull loot from nearby locations, meaning in theory, this too can be done to steal loot from the vaults scattered across World’s Edge....

Season 8 of Apex Legends has brought a new Legend and weapon, balance changes, and a makeover for Kings Canyon. During an AMA on Reddit, lead game designer Daniel Klein fielded questions from the community about Apex Legends Season 8. According to Klein, Fuse’s original Ultimate was much more powerful than the one he released with. As many expected, Ubisoft dedicated a sizable portion of its E3 2018 Press Conference to officially announcing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with a reveal trailer detailing the forthcoming action-adventure title’s take on Ancient Greece. Now, the publisher and developer is already prepared to unveil that the game will have a slew of special editions, with there being four pre-order versions available now for Xbox One. As seen in the screenshots below from Major Nelson’s blog, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on Xbox One currently offers the standard version for $60, the Deluxe Edition for $80, the Gold Edition for $100, and the Ultimate Edition for a whopping $120....

Ubisoft’s popular Assassin’s Creed series seemingly has endless amounts of content thanks to its reliance on visiting major moments in history or prominent locations. This year’s game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, takes people to 9th century England, where the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons battled each other over territory. Players will also step into the shoes of a new Viking hero named Eivor, continuing the series’ long tradition of introducing new protagonists with each new entry....

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the player will spend most of their time traveling through England in search of alliances. If there’s one good thing to come from 2020 it’s the increased importance in gaming of being able to pet every goddamn animal that you can. It’s something we all want to do in real life, but since we’re all stuck inside due to COVID lockdowns, we can’t do it nearly as much as we’d like. Aliens: Fireteam Elite hopes to not only bring a little life to one of the most notable gaming dry spells in quite some time but ultimately do justice to 1986’s Aliens in the same way that Alien Isolation so brilliantly paid tribute to 1979’s Alien. Arguments about greed or nickel-and-dime pricing cast aside, paid DLC tends to be a dividing force in the multiplayer paradigm. As map packs or new game modes trickle out to join the ranks of a game’s original content, players unable - or unwilling - to hand over more cash are siphoned off into the Servers of the Have-Nots. The effect only multiplies as more purchase options come to market. Starhawk developers LightBox Interactive and Sony Santa Monica say they were unhappy with the way this fragmentation played out in the game’s predecessor, Warhawk, and so as a new, somewhat unexpected measure for the air/ground warfare hybrid (which released on May 8th), all future map packs will be free....

The amateur esports platform, PlayVS, announced today that it’s adding Overwatch to its title offerings as part of their partnership with Blizzard. PlayVs will also expand its high school offerings to include Recreational and Varsity systems, the former of which Overwatch will be added to. By joining Recreational Overwatch teams, high schools on the PlayVS platform will be able to register to compete in open, regional leagues beginning this fall....

It could be argued that the current PC gaming market is being flooded with GPUs a-plenty at the moment, and its two biggest rivals, AMD and Nvidia, are once again battling it out for supremacy. With the latter having just launched its midrange RTX 3060 graphics card, it seems the former is priming itself to launch an equally-midrange GPU soon. In a recent post to Twitter, AMD announced it will be unveiling the latest addition to its Radeon RX 6000 range, which could be the Nvidia alternative many have been waiting for....
