Like most years in the past decade, 2018 will see the release of yet another Assassin’s Creed title. However, this year’s forthcoming entry has managed to reinvigorate interest in what could be described as a series too reliant on formula. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey first raised eyebrows with an impressive demonstration at E3 2018, showcasing a new choice-based dialogue system and gorgeous setting in Ancient Greece. A recent interview with game director Scott Phillips reveals all new details, including that Odyssey will take a lot longer to beat than its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Origins....
Assassin’s Creed: Origins may be the best example of Ubisoft’s dedication to world-building yet. During several hands-on sessions earlier this year, Game Rant discovered that the world of Ancient Egypt that the developer had constructed for Assassin’s Creed: Origins had a noticeably different feel to it than previous games in the series. Characters felt as though they had places to be, and the world bent to main character Bayek’s will but never broke - the game feels like the kind of spiralling, multi-person underdog story that made fans cheer on Ezio and his crew, rather than the introspection and brooding that came with Connor in Assassin’s Creed 3....

It took four years, but I think Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD may have finally achieved near perfection. For four seasons now, Marvel Studios’ inaugural series has hovered around greatness but never quite achieved that milestone. Think about it, when Agents of SHIELD began, it was a show that continued the story of the likable SHIELD agent dude that Loki killed in The Avengers, and that was pretty much it. People were expecting the ABC actioner to be an extension of the Marvel films, but it soon become apparent that Agents of SHIELD would be movie-adjacent at best....
It seems that all of Microsoft’s first-party titles will receive cross-gen support for Xbox Series X and Xbox One, meaning that you’ll still be able to play with your friends even if they don’t upgrade to the newer console. The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are due to launch simultaneously on November 10, and will cost $499 and $299, respectively. Given that pre-orders for the new Xbox consoles have been rough (although not quite as rough as PS5 pre-orders), it’s possible that not everybody who wants one will get one....
