Sometimes, a few words of praise from a Hollywood great can make a person’s entire career. With that in mind, it looks like something big is on the horizon for two video hobbyists from Minneapolis, after their mesmerizing clip caught the attention of James Gunn, the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy films....

Platinum Games’ titles often have a devoted following, and for good reason. With some of the biggest action titles out there, each game is a study in excessive style and a new experiment with mechanics. The Wonderful 101 is no exception, and the success of its Remaster Kickstarter shows it. The Kickstarter was so successful it even led to a new side mission for Wonderful 101, the first new content for the game in years....

During Acer’s livestream today, three great categories were showcased with a roshambo theme: rock held Acer’s most durable, paper encompassed the lightest models, and scissors was showcased for creators. Viewers got to pick the order in which the selections were presented. The first category presented was “paper,” the lightest and thinnest notebooks designed with remote work in mind. Pypah — from Pypah’s Art on YouTube — presented a computer from the “scissors” category by painting a digital portrait on the Concept D 3 Ezel....

In a short segment during Microsoft’s conference at E3 2021, a new indie title called Replaced was shown off. Sporting what looks like a Blade Runner-esque art style, the game almost seems to play like a Castlevania title with its sidescrolling action and exploration. In an official description from developer Sad Cat Studios, the game is said to be a 2.5D action platformer where players will inhabit the consciousness of an AI trapped in a human body against its will....

Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has seen a number of updates since its third season of content began. On April 22, an update was pushed out that fixed an attachment exploit and various bugs, but already Activision’s Player Support account on Twitter has teased another update coming next week with a mysterious aim. Apparently Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can expect an update on April 28 that will involve a few extra steps based on the Thursday Tweet....

First announced in 2009 at the Experimental Games Workshop during the Game Developer’s Conference, Chris Hecker’s SpyParty has had a long road to get to where it is - and though it still has a way to go before it’s official released, it’s more accessible now than it ever has been. SpyParty is now on Steam Early Access. SpyParty is a competitive espionage game, with one player acting as a spy at, well, a party, trying to blend in with the NPCs while accomplishing certain tasks....

Mortal Kombat X recently received update 1.02, which improved the game’s balance, bettered online stability, and even added a free DLC skin in the form of Klassic Sub-Zero. Of course, the game will receive many more updates and patches down the road as well. It’d be understandable to assume that future updates will lack as much content as the first one, but according to series creator Ed Boon, that’s not the case....

The Respawn team do adore to leave us Apex Legends players with a fair few easter eggs. If they’re not teasing a brand new limited-time mode or a whole new character, we get hidden dolls and reverential nods to Titanfall and beyond. Many of these easter eggs find their way to the Firing Range, Apex Legends’ training centre, and with a specific set of inputs, you can unlock them for yourself....

It’s sudden popularity resulted in developer Innersloth canceling Among Us 2 in order to focus on the original game....

After exploding in popularity in August, InnerSloth’s mafia-style sleuth game, Among Us, hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. According to a recent Venture Beat report by way of Sensor Tower, the mobile version of Among Us has crossed the 217 million download mark and was the most downloaded game of October. Among Us is continuing to crush the gaming scene in both downloads and revenue months after the game jumped onto the Twitch and YouTube scene....

Apex Legends has been hiding Easter eggs within the game since its release. The first Apex Legends Easter egg, for example, discovered in-game tasked players to find 10 dolls across the map in one game and the reward is pretty satisfying. Now, there is a new Easter egg that may go over some younger player’s heads. The “Old Ways” event is centered around Bloodhound, with a cinematic revealing Bloodhound’s backstory. The story shows that Bloodhound’s uncle is named Artur, who shares a name with Bloodhound’s raven....

The latest of the Apple and Epic clash seems to be steering towards Valve’s territory, whether Valve wants to be included or not. The ongoing lawsuit between the two tech giants started on August 13, 2020, as Epic attempted to bypass the App Store with Fortnite’s microtransactions, resulting in Apple removing the Fortnite application and Epic Games promptly filing a lawsuit stating that Apple’s 30% cut was crippling the ecosystem on the distribution of software....

A couple of days ago, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to PC, Stadia, and current and next-generation consoles. Of course, given that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the highly-anticipated games this year, its success is not at all surprising. However, it appears that the game’s performance blew expectations away, given that more players played Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on launch day than its immediate predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In a press release published by Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot, it was revealed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla got twice as many players on launch day compared to Odyssey, which released back in October of 2018....
