The end of 2017 saw a backlash against the inclusion of loot box systems in video games. Yesterday, Apex Legends’ Thrillseekers event began and it introduced a brand new map for Arenas called Overflow. Overflow is set to the backdrop of an industrial facility akin to Hammond Robotics on the Battle Royale map World’s Edge. It’s built with the gamemode in mind rather than being stripped from other maps. With that, it was made to be “lane focused” in that each location is split apart by “lava-filled structures....

Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment’s high-octane Battle Royale, is a month into its seventh season. While Season 7 brought many new additions, including a map, Legend, and vehicle, it also removed Apex Legends’ original map from the rotation. Set on the planet Solace, Kings Canyon launched with Apex Legends back in early 2019. The ruined landscape borrowed many assets from the Titanfall series, from which Apex is a spin-off. As the first map in Respawn’s Battle Royale, it’s seen a lot of changes over the past two years....

Respawn Entertainment is ready to launch the next chapter of Apex Legends. The developer has now confirmed the release date for Apex Legends Battle Pass Season 1, dubbed Wild Frontier, which will officially start on Tuesday, March 19. Season 1 will bring with it the launch of a new Legend named Octane as well as the highly anticipated first Apex Legends Battle Pass. While the Battle Pass will be premium, costing roughly $10, Apex Legends remains otherwise free to play and includes free content for Season 1 players without a Battle Pass, too....

Blur Studio will assist BioWare’s veterans at Archetype Entertainment to create their new sci-fi RPG in a brand-new universe. The studio is still hiring for the upcoming ambitious project, so it’s not coming anytime soon. The partnership between Archetype Entertainment and Blur Studio was announced on the Wizards of the Coast official website. Blur Studio is an award-winning production company, which specializes in visual effects, animations, and design — the company was founded in 1995 by director Tim Miller....

Although rumours and speculation on its next games console abound, Nintendo is increasing production of its existing machine. It is said to be matching continued demand and relative improvement in components availability with a larger production order. The popularity of the seven-year-old Nintendo Switch defies the usual console lifespan. Console generations tend to last a similar timeframe but are then replaced. The Xbox Series X and S machines were released seven years after the Xbox One, for example....

The 2K franchise is notorious for using a system of remaking the same game with a few unique features every year. We all know this, but we still buy the game anyways. Last month, PlayStation announced a new Play At Home initiative, designed to make the next few months more bearable to us. They didn’t just offer kind wishes, though, they’re giving us all ten free games.
