Many people who were hoping to get their hands on a retro handheld console from Analogue have been disappointed. The Analogue Pocket sold out of all pre-order units within the first fifteen minutes of sale, and fans aren’t pleased. The Analogue Pocket pre-order release date was announced via tweet not long before the actual sale, with a plan to ship in May of 2021 and a MSRP of $200. In a gaming landscape where Season or Annual Passes and paid DLC have become the norm to enjoy a game’s post-launch content, a developer behind BioWare’s Anthem says, “Just get the game.” While BioWare had previously stated that there would be no Season Pass for the game about seven months ago during E3, this further confirms that EA and BioWare are sticking to that commitment. Anthem is in an Alpha state, with some players taking part in a closed Alpha demo earlier this month, and the game releases February 22, 2019, so launch and post-launch plans should be even more in focus for the developer than last summer when many of those statements were made....

With its upcoming sci-fi RPG, Anthem, BioWare will be doing its best to get back into fans’ good graces. The developer fell from grace following the poor reception of Mass Effect: Andromeda and many will be hoping that the forthcoming game will be a return to form for BioWare. But what happens if it ends up being a failure? One theory that has been discussed online is that if Anthem is a failure, BioWare parent company EA will choose to shutter the studio for good....
