The grand finale of today’s Nintendo Direct showcase was the first gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. The game is “aiming” for a 2022 release date, which probably means 2023 if we’re being honest with ourselves, so this might be the only tidbit we get for the foreseeable future. Naturally, I’m going to over-analyze every single frame of the trailer looking for any clues about the story and details about the gameplay....

Although Zendikar Rising’s story and cards are currently keeping Magic: The Gathering players busy on Magic Arena and in person, it wasn’t that long ago that planeswalkers from all over the multiverse were gathered together for the massive conflict in the May 2019 set War of the Spark. War of the Spark was unlike any prior Magic: The Gathering set in that every booster pack contained a planewalker and planeswalkers appeared outside of the Mythic Rare slot for the very first time....

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is one very large game, being more than 60% larger than the map of AC Origins and making it the largest map of any game in the franchise. That’s a lot of ground for players to cover, but the development team has given fans an added incentive to explore, as the game also features quite a few interesting Easter eggs. Assassin’s Creed: Origins is still a few months away from its October 27 release, but that hasn’t stopped the hype train from rolling out ahead of time. A Paranormal Activity reboot is on the way from both Jason Blum and the creator of the first installment, Oren Peli. This is the seventh film in the series, with the latest being 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. Happy Death Day’s Christopher Landon will pen the script, while filmmaker Will Eubank, who last made the Kristen Stewart thriller Underwater, is attached to direct. Landon, a frequent collaborator of Blum’s, wrote Paranormal Activity 2, 3, and 4, as well as Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones....

Twitch streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek isn’t exactly known for frustrated outbursts or heated rants, but that’s exactly what viewers were treated to following Shroud’s loss in a recent round of Apex Legends. The loss came as a result of the lag that has hindered Apex Legends players since its release. In the midsts of a firefight, Shroud encountered enough lag that caused his bullets to not connect with his opponent. Unfortunately, the enemy’s bullets found Shroud easily, causing him to go to the ground....

Viral marketing campaigns for video games are nothing new. When done successfully, they often manage to present forthcoming titles in an unconventional way while also portraying the publisher’s and developer’s sensibilities.
