Star Wars always seems to be the default for nerd culture in my experience. If you’re into gaming, books, and computers, then you must be into Star Wars. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, as Star Wars certainly deserves all the glory that came to the franchise, given the amount of effort that went into it and the number of people it’s introduced to science fiction. But this does give Star Wars something that not many fandoms have....

Netflix has been churning out some exceptional docs recently and true crime has never been hotter (bolstered in part by the massive response to Netflix’s series Making a Murderer), so when the latest to land on the streaming service prompted shock from viewers, with critics calling it the darkest true crime show yet, it seemed sensible to approach Abducted in Plain Sight with care. Packed with increasingly strange spiralling twists, with a highly manipulative paedophile at the centre of a story that’s almost too weird to be believed, Abducted in Plain Sight is certainly full of surprises....

Activision-Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has given each of the company’s employees his phone number to assist with coronavirus-related issues. The CEO appeared on CNBC recently to speak about some of the measures Activision-Blizzard has taken during the pandemic to ensure the health and safety of its employees, from Activision instituting work from home policies to assisting with healthcare needs. In the interview, Kotick claimed that “a few hundred” of Activision’s employees had reached out to him thus far, after sending an e-mail to employees containing his phone number and telling them to reach out directly if they needed assistance....

Call of Duty: Warzone has finally added the Duos game mode after fans have been requesting it for quite some time. Players can now suit up and deploy with their closest friend, fighting against all odds to survive in Verdansk. In response to this, Activision has offered up some tips to players to help them come out on top in Duos. For the most part, a lot of these tips are self explanatory....

Now adding to the frenzy is a recent Marvel leak that appears to reveal spoilers for 26 future MCU works....

Sony recently announced that the vast majority of the PS4’s 4,000+ games will be backwards compatible with PS5, meaning that most current-gen titles will be available to play on its next-gen console. The news comes from an official blog post that was recently published by the PlayStation support website. According to said post, “The PS5 console is backward compatible with the overwhelming majority of PS4 games.” It also notes that this means backwards compatibility will be available for approximately 4,000 different games, and that select titles will benefit from the PS5’s Game Boost feature, allowing them to potentially run at smoother and higher frame rates....

Among Us, a social deduction game released in 2018 by Innersloth, has seen a sharp increase in popularity in recent months due to various YouTubers and streamers. As a result of this, Innersloth has announced that it will be creating a sequel titled Among Us 2, which will expand on the original game’s scope. Released on itch.io and Steam back in 2018, Among Us is a social deduction game in the vein of classics like Werewolf and Town of Salem....

It’s been nearly six years since the launch of BioShock Infinite, and fans are understandably anxious for a new entry in the beloved franchise. Animal Crossing’s notoriously rare collectable cards are making a comeback this Fall. Since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, amiibo cards of players’ favorite villagers have been incredibly difficult to come by. Having already been compared to Destiny by many, EA and its fans have high hopes for Anthem. The social, quest-centered game was orginially set to release late this year, but was delayed due to the massive competition this fall’s game lineup held. By doing this, EA no longer needs to worry about sharing sales with Red Dead Redemption 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Battlefield V. Anthem will now have far less competition at launch, making it one of the most anticipated games of early 2019....

EA and Bioware’s Anthem has gotten off to quite the rough start, after dropping last Friday. The new loot shooter game was supposed to be the biggest thing out there, given the anticipation, yet EA seems to have done themselves more harm than good with the demo and early access launch, and the poor reviews haven’t been helpful either. While there are gamers who have expressed satisfaction with the product and are less critical based on the expectations as it relates to improvements and patches, it looks like it will take a lot for this title to actually reach its potential....

Starting next season, players will be able to use ultimate accelerators without having to open up their inventory menu. This is a huge quality of life update that players have been requesting for a long time and should help a lot with keeping momentum on the battlefield. On Saturday, Apex Legends, a free-to-play FPS battle royale developed by Respawn Entertainment and published for Microsoft Windows, PS4, and Xbox One, hit 198,235 concurrent players on Steam. The game, released on February 4, 2019, is scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch on March 9. Apex Legends, which spent nearly 18-months as an EA Origin exclusive, reached its highest concurrent user peak yesterday, according to SteamDB. The recent surge, following the release of Season 8 on February 2, has made the title the fifth most-played game on Steam, outpacing GTA 5, Rainbow Six Siege, and Team Fortress 2....
