Despite only having released a few weeks ago, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the most talked-about game on Twitter according to their stats, both in the last 30 days and for all of 2020. Other popular games discussed often on Twitter are Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Fortnite, and Fate/Grand Order. The news should not really come as a surprise, because compared to the other top games on Twitter, Animal Crossing is by far the most social by design....

Apex Legends Season nine will bring a few changes to the game’s resident healer, Lifeline. More specifically, she’ll be getting nerfed; but a few other changes around her abilities may just balance things out. Lifeline was one of the most popular Legends early on after the game’s launch, however, consequent balancing changes to the game and other characters saw her slowly fade into the background. In lieu of the latest season coming up in May, Respawn has decided to make a few changes to the character....

The season of spookiness is once again upon us, and that means it’s time to get scared in Apex Legends. Fight or Fright returns in 2020 with a new limited-time game mode, new and returning Halloween cosmetics, and perhaps most frightening of all, a new ability straight out of Titanfall 2. Let’s start with Shadow Royale, the new limited-time game mode that arrives with Fight or Fright. Unlike last year’s Shadowfall, this year’s event still has the usual squad-based combat, but there’s a twist....

Apple’s iOS App Store is by far the market leader when it comes to downloadable applications for smartphones and tablets. That’s no surprise, considering the iPhone is arguably what created the entire mobile market in the first place. Navigating the iOS store, many would agree, is also a more pleasant experience than its competition thanks to Apple’s heavy curation and strict guidelines for submission. But its those same strict guidelines that have sometimes stuck in the craw of developers trying to get their applications approved....

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla has an incredible amount of potential when it comes to setting because it’s centered around a Viking protagonist. The Danes were raiders who invaded a plethora of lands, from Asia to Europe to America. As such, there’s plenty of cities and countries that we could see snippets of. We already know we’ll be setting foot in England where we’ll most probably go toe-to-toe with King Alfred, but there are more historical places we’d like to see before or after that fateful clash....

Back when Assassin’s Creed was just starting to become popular, eventually fans started theorycrafting the perfect time periods for the Assassins to visit next. The series has tackled Renaissance Italy, the American Revolution, the Crusades, and far more, and fan requests had no limit. Among the most requested time periods for the series have been Vikings and Feudal Japan. Fans are getting both this year with a little help from Ghost of Tsushima, another historical action-RPG....

With a lengthy game like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, it’s nice to get a questline that wraps up in only a few steps. Jorvik, measured by the number of quests alone, is among the shortest areas to conquer in the game. And yet, each stage has plenty of places that turn players around. Getting lost in the big city is not good, even if the “big cities” weren’t quite as big back then....

The Quake franchise has been seeing a resurgence in recent months. After QuakeCon celebrated its 25th anniversary this year with a remote event, Bethesda gave Quake fans another special treat by releasing Quake 2 for free to fans of the classic franchise for the next three days. While fans can also look forward to Quake 3’s free period next week, they now also have a new free game to choose from....

It was only five days ago when we reported about Mojang releasing the first post-launch update for Minecraft since the game released in full, dropping its beta status in November. At the time of that writing last week, I made a point of highlighting that exactly 19,802,2345 users had registered for Minecraft accounts. The release of the 1.1 update must have been a big success when it released on January 12, 2012, as not but two days later Minecraft creator Notch took to Twitter to share the news that the game has surpassed the 20 million mark of registered users....

With a whopping 18 jobs to choose from in Final Fantasy XIV, each with their own incredibly complex play-style to master, it might sound a little ludicrous to ask for more jobs to be added to the game. And yet, here we are. The Final Fantasy franchise has had the most unique class system in the JRPG scene for a while now. It would be an absolute shame to never see some of their most distinctive jobs make it into their most successful MMORPG yet, so here are four jobs we want to see in Final Fantasy XIV....

Segas fifth generation console, the Sega Saturn, had a number of issues, from its competition to technical problems. There was just so much wrong with the console, and it hurt Sega’s future endeavors in making hardware. The console still has a legacy behind it, much like Dreamcast, which came out a few years after, but the Dreamcast was a different story. This somewhat helped the struggling console maker stay in the race, in terms of relevance....

With nearly a dozen games under its belt, the Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of Ubisoft’s biggest successes. Taking the mobility of the Prince of Persia series and placing it in a large sandbox, Assassin’s Creed was one of the progenitors to the popular open-world genre we see today. It had to start from somewhere, though. The earlier titles are rough around the edges but hold up surprisingly well. Each game tried something different than the last, for better or worse....

The Mass Effect series took the world by storm 13 years ago, and has garnered both new and old fans each year. Its immense popularity even led to a sequel, Mass Effect: Andromeda, but it wasn’t as well-received as the original trilogy. While the sequel introduced two new races of alien, it also left out some fan favorites from the original games. Most notable of these omissions was that of the Quarians....

A book about the life of Satoru Iwata is now available in Japan and a lone fan is now translating into English for the benefit of international Nintendo fans. Iwata-san is a book by Yasuda Nagata that combines numerous articles written by Iwata for both the Hobonichi and Nintendo website. The book also contains all of the “Iwata-asks” interviews, where he spoke to different developers about their classic projects and most recent releases....

With two film adaptations and an upcoming Hulu show underneath his bald cap, it seems like directors are desperate to put Agent 47 (and his silverballers) onto the silver screen. So why do they keep going about it the wrong way? Agent 47 shouldn’t be a James Bond-esque action star, and he shouldn’t be a deep and tragic lead either - he should be a horror villain. The big problem with trying to portray Agent 47 in a film or TV series is that he’s not the most personable character....

The Mass Effect universe teems with everything from giant, subterranean worms who feed on solar radiation to space jellyfish capable of communicating with one another via barely perceptible alterations in color. There are gentle giants who have learned to move slowly because of how dangerous it is to fall on their homeworld, and ancient aliens who can read an inanimate object’s apparently existent mind simply by touching it. With all of this in mind, it’s easy to believe that people have always been keen to explore this universe in more detail....

It’s been just over three weeks since Bandai Namco revealed Ace Combat 7’s ongoing 25th-anniversary celebration would include a new trio of classic aircraft. Bamco didn’t give us a date at the time, but it turns out we didn’t have to wait long at all. Ace Combat 7’s new Experimental Aircraft Series DLC is available now on all platforms. And we have a new trailer to see just what each jet is capable of....

Mipha may not have been able to win Link’s heart, at least as far as we know, but she more than makes up for it in battle as she one of the strongest characters in the game in almost every regard. Although she falls short when compared to Sidon, who is essentially Mipha on steroids, she has a few tricks up her sleeve that elevate her above many other characters....

Nearly 15 years after its release, Age of Empires 3 is getting a Definitive Edition, as both Age of Empires 1 and 2 have. While players wait on Age of Empires 4, the announcement of Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition builds up even more excitement. While each Definitive Edition improves the game graphically, Age of Empires 3 takes it a step further with a 4K remaster, brand new features, and new civilizations....
