A recent Assassin’s Creed Valhalla comparison video shows the game loading three seconds faster on PS5 than on Xbox Series X. On PS5 it only takes 23.30 seconds to load, while Series X lags behind at 26.48 seconds. That’s not a big difference, but it’s interesting to see Series X – which seems to be a more powerful console, at least on paper – lagging behind PS5. Surprisingly, Series S only clocks in a bit behind Series X at 27....

The Lion King is never going to disappear. The retelling of Hamlet through lions in Africa is currently the 36th highest engrossing film of all time. It was the highest engrossing animated Disney film for a while until the more recent movies, Frozen and Zootopia. As you can imagine, the film won tons of awards for its music, animation, and emotional story. With its sequels and spin-offs, the world of The Lion King has only strengthened over time....

By cherry-picking elements of the massive older expanded universe, while introducing its own ideas, the new canon of Star Wars, while not perfect, is much more complete and satisfying than the old stories. Obviously, the biggest addition Disney has made to Star Wars are the three (soon to be four) new full-length feature films that have hit the holiday box offices like the Death Star superlaser, creating a perfect storm of high-budget action and high-quality storytelling....

Fans of Respawn Entertainment’s popular free-to-play shooter Apex Legends have long voiced their concerns regarding in-game cheating, and the developer has thus far been pretty keen on cracking down any would-be rulebreakers. That said, they can’t get rid of everything, and many are pressing for more drastic measures in the fight to keep the game as clean as possible. Following the poorly received WWE 2K20, 2K Sports will be giving the mainline series a year off. The spiritual successor to Rare’s legendary Golden Eye, Perfect Dark was a landmark title for the Nintendo 64 when it was released in 2000. Now, after one lackluster sequel and over twenty years later, Joanna Dark is poised for a triumphant return with a new title being developed by The Initiative. But if the new Perfect Dark is going to live up to the original’s legacy, The Initiative needs to nail several key aspects of story and gameplay that made the N64 shooter great....

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City came out in 2002 and has players play through a parody of Miami — Vice City. It stars Tommy Vercetti, a member of the Forelli Crime Family, as he is sent to Florida to take part in a drug deal. After an ambush, Tommy sets up his own criminal empire, angering his former friend and boss. Vice City took place in the 1980s and had the first voiced protagonist of the series....

The Portal series, for example, received its second entry only after the massive success of the first Portal game, and the Super Monkey Ball franchise was only meant to be played in arcades before its console port and sequels. Shirley Curry, who goes by the name, “Skyrim Grandma,” on her YouTube channel, will be included as a non-playable character in Elder Scrolls VI, a move set to immortalize the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim fan. This development comes as a result of a fan petition which has seen 45,000 people (and counting) pen their approval....

A patent discovered by Rolling Stone’s video game branch Glixel shows that Activision is researching new ways to encourage players of its games to purchase microtransactions; specifically, by manipulating multiplayer matchmaking algorithms. The patent was filed in 2015 but only approved as of today. The process involves creating profiles for players and then matching them with others who are using microtransaction weapons and items deemed attractive to the original player....

In the past, during any of the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo conferences, Activision typically has opted to debut new content for their Call of Duty franchise on Microsoft’s stage. This year, however, the game publisher shook things up a bit and revealed gameplay for the upcoming sequel in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, during Sony’s E3 2015 keynote instead. Moreover, Activision confirmed that first look DLC exclusivity would transfer from Xbox platforms to Sony platforms for this year’s game....
