Some make money (Resident Evil), some are watchable (Dead or Alive, the first Mortal Kombat), but most are disasters. This is the golden age of television, however, and with the Halo live-action series finally in production and a Resident Evil show coming to Netflix at some point, we’re on the cusp of a new wave of video game adaptations, this time made for streaming TV....

Revita is the name of a “hair stimulating” shampoo, but in this case it’s a pulse-pounding twin-stick shooter platformer hybrid that’s releasing on Steam in March. The family-friendly hybrid console is receiving a stealth-based narrative adventure based on the H.G. Wells story called Grey Skies: A War of the Worlds Story. Set within the middle of the Martian invasion on an English countryside, you play as Harper as she sneaks past the iconic Black Smoke, Red Weed, and Heat Ray....

Taking on the role of the hero usually involves a courageous feat commendable by many. Action platformer Shards of Hope takes this notion a step further by featuring a warrior whose primary, honorable goal is to vanquish children’s nightmares. Set in the atmosphere of “dread and gloom”, Shards of Hope invites gamers into a 2.5D mashup of metroidvania style and bullet hell gameplay. Still within its demo phase, the game is available to play from developer Banana Crunch Dev’s website, and its achievements so far is impressive....

With Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy kicking off the phenomenon back in 2017, Activision has been at the forefront of the remake trend for some time now, releasing several revamped callbacks to its most iconic franchises. There’s a dangerous misconception in video games that reporters and critics have an agenda or are in some big money tycoon’s pocket. Score a game well and you’re paid off, score it poorly and you’re against the developer - when people online have their own personal opinions and biases, you’re never going to please everyone, nor is it your job to do so in the first place.
